If I describe myself, I would definitely say I am a private person. Being alone gives me much ease and happiness in most situation. I don’t particularly like parties, or going out with many people. However, this does not mean that I am the happiest living in complete solitude, like living in the middle of desert. I need somebody to listen to my music and the fact that I am writing this blog means I am hoping somebody might read this. So, from the ancient times, we have lived in some kind of community. My friend who is a professor at New York University had written books based on the interview of great musicians who created Jazz. Among those who were on these books, none of the musicians seems to have created music alone. Those musicians equally state that they have learned and experienced music in some kind of communities. Since the civilization was formed, humans have lived in some kind of group.
On the other hand, some negative side effects do exist. The groups always seem to have a negative power to reject other humans who do not belong to this particular group.
Christians had some problems with Muslims since the time of Roman Empire, and the racial discrimination is certainly based on this negative power.
o this negative power, by adding some complicated politics, financial gain, and a crave for power, we have come to have the present world. The politicians or whoever who try to bias people have been using this contradicting human nature: “need to live in the group, yet also have need to reject some other”. It looks to me United States, Asia, Europe, Africa, the complicated adding factor might be different but the problem in the bottom seems to be the same. And the similar things might even be happening around us in everyday life, too. The loving community, student group, schools, companies..everywhere.
Interesting thing to me is that at the same time, the fact that we have had this problem since the start of the civilization means that when humans gather we create the power for sure, negative or positive.
So the challenge we are facing is, how and for what we use this energy. Maybe we should start with re-realizing the group is a power, the community is and energy.
In 2026, I hope we maintain the good balance.
